The meaning of taking actions to protect the right to education

Protecting the right to education and providing qualified education to everyone can be very complex and sophisticated, but the cost of inaction could be high. As an old saying goes, no action today means no cure tomorrow. If we do not take steps to do it, some children would probably grow up with low self-esteem. It is also difficult for them to shake off a sense of social inferiority even after they grow up. Shield from Stanford set an example for this in her article. She says, “when poor and minority children see that their more advantaged peers attend better resourced public schools — a conclusion that can be drawn in many cases simply by comparing how school facilities look — they may internalize the view that the state cares less about cultivating their interests and skills” (Shields et al., 2017). In other words, lack of educational opportunities harms children by damaging their self-respect. They would suffer the dignitary injury of feeling that they are not equal to their peers in the state’s eyes, and it may lead to worse results in their future development. Besides, the children leave school without acquiring the basics, which greatly impedes these countries’ social and economic development. The lack of schooling and poor education did not just limit their future career opportunities. It also has negative effects on the population and country.

On the contrary, protects the right of education for children creates a virtuous circle for society. After these well-educated children grow up and become parents, they can naturally focus on the next generation’s education. Society can build a tradition to value education in this way.

Check the results

Multiple ways can be used to measure the results of our actions. However, product checking should not just focus on academics and the achievement of degrees. It should be able to achieve goals beyond the basic objectives. It is essential to know whether these actions improve students’ wholesome learning experience and whether they are benefit to children’s future development. Besides, ensure the provision of long-lasting results can also prove that our actions are meaningful and helpful. When a child is provided with quality education, the positive outcomes that he or she can get are more long-lasting and beneficial for the individual and the collective society in the long run. While checking the results of our actions, we should keep the content and academic activities up to date for this purpose.
